Inside the research

Before comparing percentages, check the denominator

This review examines a reported single-site AI-search opt-out test alongside published research from Pew, Ahrefs and Seer. Clicks per visit, organic click-through rates and modeled estimates describe different populations and cannot be treated as interchangeable benchmarks.

Visibility beyond an immediate click

The review considers brand demand, referrals, citations and assisted outcomes as possible parts of the measurement picture. These are questions to investigate; the evidence reviewed does not establish a causal AI visibility halo.

A framework for a better decision

Six measurement signals help frame a baseline before changing search visibility. The proposed approach considers confounding factors and reversible tests rather than treating a low click estimate as an automatic reason to opt out.
